Visit on board U.S. Training Vessel Golden Bear

Introduction

On 24 June 2001, we had the chance to visit the U.S. training vessel Golden Bear under the permission and guidance of the caption.

Golden Bear is the training ship of the California Merchantman University. Registered in Vallejo, California, it was U.S. Navy's former survey ship Maury T (AGS-39). Full length 152.3m. Displacement 15,928 tons. This ship gives comprehensive training of ship operation for those interest in working in civilian or naval ships.
